Fake Vote Key

I only started today, and I got two vote keys from a level up after fighting a boss. I go to crates, and I suddenly get another vote key. I use both the first two vote keys, and the vote key I got when I got to crates said that I was caught for using a fake vote key. What does that mean? I only just got the vote key when I arrived at crates? Am I supposed to be worried?

no expired vote keys are to be thrown away and will not be refunded in any way

No, stacking up expired vote keys will not help you in any way, shape or form.
