Thunderstone armor

So I have full thunderstone armor but haste 2 isn't doing anything, why?

I think you need high enough level in mining or some other skill.

Tried increasing my mining skill but nothing changed
The other day this guy and I had the same armor and tools and he got the benefits of haste 2. The most noticeable difference was that they were ace rank and I wasn't. Do I needa buy rank to get haste 2 to work?

What's your level?
I believe it was fairly high for the armor

I found the answer!!
The problem is that I was using pickaxes with efficiency level 4 but you need 5 to get any difference. Ty!
