Please update Creative

Creative is insanely laggy and has more issues than any of the other gamemodes, some of these problems include anyone being able to crash the entire Creative server at any time, world edit not working, getting kicked from the server randomly (this happens a lot and I mean a lot).

The issues mentioned above are game breaking and could completely turn people away from playing this gamemode. Maybe the reason they don't update Creative anymore is because it has less players than the other gamemodes, but then again surely they are aware that the player count would increase if it wasn't full of glitches and laggy 24/7.

I joined the server less than 2 weeks ago and in this short time I have been victim to people crashing the entire server multiple times, getting kicked probably more than 100 times in total, and many hours of world edit being broken.

Sorry to hear that I would put a suggestion in our discord for updates and open a ticket about the lag when it happens. Discord.gg/complexvanilla

After switching to 1.20.1 I almost never get kicked now, so that problem can be resolved by just switching to an earlier version it seems

could've very well been an issue with via-version and incompatibility between protocol versions yes. The issue you described did seem isolated. But good to hear it's sorted its self out. You can see the server ticks-per-second (TPS) on the tab-list on creative it seems, this will give you an almost accurate reading (depending on whether the placeholders on the tab-list are reparsed on a reasonable interval, as servers don't always update it instantly for lag reasons). However, if it's green (i.e. 20) then the lag is most likely not server-side.

If you believe you've found a crash exploit, you should definitely report that ASAP as-well as whoever you suspect is abusing it.

At one point in time I submitted posts like this one. Someone told me to put the suggestions on the discord page. Seeing as I do not have a discord account and this forum/website exists for the very reason of posts like these, it is nice to see this.

This kind of goes both ways: Creative doesn't earn the server a lot of money because people do not wish to donate for half-finished and/or broken features. Most perks are cosmetics or quality of life-upgrades. This results in Creative not being a priority for the staff team, which then results in the server being overlooked and not being updated. More bugs and problems arise. This scares off new players and keeps them away. A negative spiral in player counts due to nothing getting fixed.

Every time we suggest things, report bugs or ask politely about updates, we get the same old "we're working on it, it just is not a priority right now as we are busy with (...)".

Every time Creative gets pushed down the to do-list, resulting in a continuously deterring gamemode.

If someone could forward this thread to a discord place, it would be a nice gesture. There is a list of bugs/glitches that I (alongside other active creative members) could provide to any staff member willing to listen to it. I understand fully that there are priorities to be taken into consideration, but constantly being pushed away does not at all contribute to the server. New staff members (like @M4kkaPakka, he's recently been promoted) could blow new life into these threads/suggestions. Not all staff members neglect Creative. @LunaMoon8715 also forwarded suggestions in the past, and I would hope those will be taken seriously at some point.

Creative has big potential. We can even provide with new minigames maps and areas for new seasons in other gamemodes. Interconnectability between servers allows for a better network for players too: players from other gamemodes often come to Creative to find builders to make them anything from Prison shops to SkyBlock islands. How good would it be if Creative became the sandbox testground for other gamemodes as well?

Sincerely,

Someone who's been playing on creative since 2015, long before the server merges and long before most current staff members joined.
