Backpacks are offhand items that automatically collect drops obtained in a server’s PvE area. Only one backpack can be equipped at a time.
Unlike traditional storage items, backpacks cannot be manually filled with items. Instead, they only store eligible drops collected automatically while equipped. Players can access stored drops through the backpack menu (Shift + Right Click) or manually sell sellable contents using /sellall.
Depending on the server, a Standard Backpack can usually be purchased in-game from the Gold Merchant for 2,048 Gold Shards. In addition, there are several other backpack variants available, including Seasonal Crate backpacks, timed backpacks obtained through PvE drops or rewards, as well as vKit backpacks which can be obtained through the store as a part of a vKit voucher. Each type will be covered in more detail in the corresponding server backpack sections.
How to upgrade a backpack?
A backpack’s capacity can be upgraded using Gold Shards across all servers, although upgrade costs vary depending on the server type. Prison backpacks, for example, use a different pricing structure per tier compared to PvE backpacks on other servers.
To upgrade a backpack, open its menu and select the upgrade option. Left-clicking upgrades the backpack by one level, while right-clicking performs a bulk upgrade using all Gold Shards available in your inventory. Gold Shards stored inside shulker boxes can also be used for upgrades while in your inventory. One caveat is that backpacks cannot be upgraded while combat tagged!
At level 1, a backpack starts with a capacity of 500 slots. Each additional upgrade increases the storage capacity by 250 slots.
Upgrading PvE backpacks also increases loot gained within the corresponding PvE area of each server, granting a +3% loot bonus per level. Non-default backpacks, such as seasonal or event variants, receive a 1.25× multiplier to this bonus. The exceptions to these rules will be covered in server specific sections.
Table with all the capacity upgrades, loot bonuses and upgrade costs will be added at the end of the guide.
Prison Backpacks
Backpacks are one of the most important tools on Prison, alongside your pickaxe. There are two main types of backpacks: Mining Backpacks and PvE Backpacks.
Restrictions:
- Both types can only hold minable/farmable drops + tokens/keys/pouches/shards/dynamite — not gear/consumables
- You may not use them interchangeably - Mining BP won't pick up Skull Island loot and vice versa.
Mining Backpacks
Store blocks mined with your pickaxe.
By default, mined blocks are sent to your inventory first unless Backpack Pickup Priority is enabled.
Upgrading a Mining Backpack increases its storage capacity.
One of the Pickaxe auto-sell upgrades allows you to also auto-sell items from your backpack.
When it comes to Mining Backpack types:
You receive a Standard Mining Backpack as a part of the Starter Kit upon joining the server
Seasonal Crate Exclusive Mining Backpacks (check /warp infuser for specific crates)
Skull Island (PvE) Backpacks
Automatically collect eligible drops before they enter your inventory.
Upgrading a PvE Backpack increases both its storage capacity and its bonus loot drop percentage.
Each level grants an additional loot bonus, making higher-level backpacks significantly more rewarding for PvE activities.
When it comes to Backpack types:
You may purchase a default Skull Backpack at the Skull Island Gold Merchant for 2048 Gold Shards.
Plunderer's Backpack is a rare drop from Skull Island mobs that is a "timed" item meaning it will expire once its timer runs out - all of its runes will lose their effects. The time duration varies on their tiers, and the runes are RNG from the seasonal crate specific backpack runes
Seasonal Crate Exclusive Skull Backpacks (check /warp infuser for specific crates)
Unlike other servers, Prison has a hard cap on backpack upgrades at Level 200, as mentioned earlier in this guide. The shard costs required for upgrades also differ from those on other servers.
Because of these differences, a Prison-specific upgrade table is provided below.
Note that levels 1-30 have a 25% gold shard discount, starting from level 31+ the standard price applies. Also note that the loot bonus only applies to Skull Island backpacks, not the Mining ones.

Skyblock Backpacks
Skyblock currently features two areas where backpacks can be used: Pharaoh's Tomb and the Dungeon.
Backpacks provide different bonuses depending on the area:
Pharaoh's Tomb backpacks function similarly to Prison's Skull Island backpacks, granting +3% loot bonus and capacity per level. They also automatically collect eligible loot dropped within the Tomb.
Dungeon backpacks grant a Dungeon Coin bonus based on their tier, providing +1% Dungeon Coins per tier - meaning 10% buff is the cap at T10 Backpacks.
When it comes to Backpack types:
The default Tomb Backpack can be obtained as loot from mobs inside the Pharaoh’s Tomb, or purchased from the Golden Merchant in T2 for 2048 Gold Shards.
Seasonal Crate Backpacks can be obtained through seasonal crates and can be viewed at /warp infuser for the available rotations and details.
Angelic Backpacks are rare, timed items that drop infrequently in the Tomb, or can be purchased in the Dungeon shop, and will expire after their duration runs out, similarly to the Prison variant.
Unlike Tomb backpacks, the bonus from Dungeon backpacks is tied to the backpack's tier, not its level. Upgrading the backpack's level only increases its storage capacity and does not increase the Dungeon Coin bonus.
It is also important to note that Dungeon Coins are awarded directly to the player and are not stored inside the backpack. The backpack only collects eligible item drops obtained within the Dungeon.
Survival Backpacks
Survival currently only has one zone where Backpacks work - the Dragon's Dojo.
The Dojo Backpacks have only the standard PvE buffs - granting +3% loot bonus and increased capacity per level. They also automatically collect eligible loot dropped within the Dojo.
When it comes to the types:
The Standard Dojo Backpack can be obtained as a rare mob drop, and there are no timed variants.
The main source of Backpacks are the exclusive Seasonal Crate ones (check out further at /warp infuser)
Lifesteal Backpacks
Lifesteal has one area where Backpacks can be used: the Colosseum.
The Colosseum Backpacks have increased loot drops and capacity upon upgrades, +3% loot drops per level alike the other server variants
Lifesteal Backpacks have a bit more types compared to the previously mentioned ones, as well as ways of obtaining them:
Standard Backpack - The default backpack can be obtained through the in-game /shop, purchased from the Gold Merchant in the T3 Colosseum for 2,048 Gold Shards, or earned via the Clan “Pack Rat” milestone for upgrading backpacks.
The Emperor’s Backpack is the timed backpack variant - obtained from Colosseum mob loot. Like other timed items, it is contraband and expires after a set duration.
Lifesteal also includes VKit backpacks, which are tied to clan milestone completions. These provide a PvP-oriented rune effect and come as part of a full kit reward set that can be earned repeatedly through progression.
Lastly, exclusive Seasonal Crate backpacks are available through rotating seasonal content and can be viewed via /warp infuser.
Factions Backpacks
Factions server has two areas in which Backpacks can be used: the Lightzone and the Darkzone.
This in turn also provides 2 additional backpack types tied to said zones:
Angelic Backpack - timed contraband backpack variant obtainable in the Lightzone as a part of its mob drop loot
Corrupted Backpack - irs counterpart from the Darkzone. Each have one random seasonal rune assigned to them upon dropping.
Other obtainable backpacks largely correspond to other server types:
The "default" Backpack is the Darkzone Backpack - not to be confused with Corrupted - this one is permanent/doesn't expire and has a higher chance of dropping from mob loot compared to others.
vKit variants - blue and red - which can be purchased on our store as part of the vKit vouchers, as well as having low chance of dropping from the Lightzone
Finally, across all servers there are the exclusive Seasonal Crate backpacks (detailed rune effects at /warp infuser)
Backpack Upgrade Cost table
These tables apply to all servers other than Prison (Skyblock, Survival, Lifesteal and Factions) and show the costs for all PvE backpacks.
There is no upgrade level cap, meaning you can theoretically upgrade them infinitely. However, unlike on Prison once again, there are no discounts applied on any levels, so the cost increases exponentially as you continue upgrading.
