A New Season Begins
The wait is almost over. We are excited to officially announce the launch of Complex Prison Season 8, arriving on June 13, 2026 at 3PM EST.
Season 8 introduces one of the largest content updates in Complex Prison history, featuring an all-new Pickaxe Perk system, competitive Gang Events, Dungeons, major balancing changes, quality-of-life improvements, and much more.
Before the reset, be sure to store any important items and complete any remaining trades while the Reset Vault remains available.
Pickaxe Perks
Season 8 introduces Pickaxe Perks, a brand-new progression system that allows players to customize and enhance their pickaxes through unique bonuses and interactive gameplay mechanics.
Players earn one random Pickaxe Perk every time they prestige. These perks can then be applied to any pickaxe, with only one perk active per pickaxe at a time.
Perks range from Level 1 to Level 10, can be upgraded using tokens, and are acquired through animated Pickaxe Perk Card Packs. Extremely rare Level 10 perks will be announced server-wide when discovered.

Available Perks
Sell Boost - Increase block sell prices by up to 10% while participating in a timing-based bonus meter.
- Interaction: An actionbar displays a sell meter that sweeps left to right. Depending on where you land, you earn a sell boost from 1→10% (the higher your perk level, the bigger the potential boost).
Mana Efficiency - Reduce mana consumption by up to 10% by successfully managing energy-release events.
- Interaction: Spending mana builds up stored energy that must be released. Every so often, a glowing, pulsating ring appears on your screen — press Shift when the energy is as close to the center of the ring as possible to maintain maximum efficiency.
Scholar - Earn increased XP gains by completing memory-based sequence challenges.
- Interaction: Every so often, colored sequences appear on your screen. Recall them in the correct order to unlock the maximum XP boost.
Token Tithe - Increase token generation while balancing risk and reward through periodic audits.
- Interaction: Your token payout grows the longer you mine — but don't get too greedy, or you risk being randomly audited and having your tokens reset to zero.
Deep Pockets - Expand backpack capacity while preventing backpack jams through quick-reaction events.
- Interaction: As you mine, you risk your backpack jamming. Your hotbar slots will highlight in a sequence — recall the sequence in order quickly to prevent a jam. If ignored, your backpack reverts to its normal size.
Overflow - Convert excess backpack capacity into bonus auto-sells by carefully managing backpack pressure.
- Interaction: As you approach your backpack cap, auto-sells trigger more frequently and at a higher rate the longer you mine — but so does the risk of a backpack tear. Cash out at the right moment to lock in a higher auto-sell rate, or get greedy and risk a tear that voids the bonus until your next run.
Echo - Gain opportunities for mined blocks to count twice for both sell value and XP.
- Interaction: Right after a break, a faint afterimage of the block flickers on an adjacent face for ~1s. Hit it to claim the double (sell + XP) until the next sequence.
Luck - Increase Lucky Block drop chances through risk-versus-reward mining events.
- Interaction: Every so often, a cluster of blocks lights up as a Lucky Vein. Each block you mine from it raises your Lucky Block chance — but one of them is unstable. Bank your boost early to play it safe, or keep digging for a bigger spike and risk hitting the unstable block, which collapses the vein and ends the run.
Perk Upgrades & Fusion
- Perks can be upgraded using tokens.
- Upgrade costs increase at higher levels.
- Duplicate perks can be fused to reduce upgrade costs.
- Up to three matching perks may be fused for a maximum 30% discount.
- Perks may be removed from pickaxes, though doing so may reduce their level unless a protection fee is paid.
Competitive Gang Events
Season 8 launches a completely new lineup of competitive Gang Events
- Opt-in via chat during a short signup window before each event begins.
- All scoring goes toward Gang Top — you'll need to be in a gang to take part.
- Blocks come in tiers, and the rarer the block the bigger the payout: Common (25), Uncommon (50), Rare (100), Epic (175), and Legendary (250) Gang Top.
- Blocks spawn in batches of 6 — clear a batch and a fresh one appears, all event long.
- Strike a Legendary and the whole server will hear about it.
- Phase 1 — Charge the Drills: gangs mine toward a shared block quota to power up the drills and unlock the vaults. Only gangs who meet the quota can proceed to phase 2.
- Phase 2 — Crack the Vaults:6 vaults open up, each worth 100–500 Gang Top value. The bigger the prize, the tougher the blocks shielding it.
- Winner takes all — whichever gang does the most work cracking a vault claims its entire reward. Spread out for steady points, or throw everyone at a high-value vault and lock the competition out.
- Each vein is telegraphed just before it goes live, so the gangs that read it and reposition fastest come out on top.
- The longer you work an active vein without letting up, the higher your gang top payout multiplier climbs.
- Watch for the Mega Vein — a rare, high-value strike that sends every gang scrambling to the same spot at once.
- The more you mine, the more entries you stack, up to 5 tickets each.
- 10 winners are drawn at the end for tokens & Gang Top value.
- We'll show who mined the most and who walked away with the win.

Upgrades & Rune Changes
Season 8 includes a significant rebalance of upgrades and enchantments.
Season 8 includes a significant rebalance of upgrades and enchantments.
New Additions
- Added Bloodstain (New Seafarer's Bounty Hotstreak): While active, your hits cleave into nearby mobs, dealing AoE damage to all surrounding enemies. The splash radius scales with your enchant level, and mana drains per mob hit.
- Sea Legs (New Skull Island Sword/Axe Enchant):Reduces knockback taken from mobs, scaling with enchant level — plant your feet and hold the line against the swarm.
- HotStreak — Executioner: While active, your hits can instantly execute non-boss mobs. Each execution drains mana, so the more you slaughter, the faster it burns out. Bosses are immune.
- Added Torrent Tornado Hotstreak: Increases the radius of the Tornado by 50% while Hot Streak is active
Changes
- Nerfed the base proc rate of Scavenged Shards by 90%.
- Jackhammer's Hotstreak now drains mana based on how many blocks it clears, so massive layer-clears burn through mana fast. Expect a few big bursts rather than one long, sustained streak.
- Bane of Arthropods is now able to be applied via /upgrade to weapons.
- Lucky Mining now caps at +7 tokens (the Level 5 rate), instead of gaining +1 token per upgrade. The increased proc chance still applies.
- Removed Confidential Contraband from Scavenged Shards. Obtaining Treasure Keys is now exclusive to Skull Island.
- Removed Sleight of Hand from Swindled Shards on Skull Island.
- Crossbows luck penalty has been reduced from 65% → 40%.
- Removed the ability to upgrade weapons with Additional Knockback.
- All Glitch upgrade costs, including sub-upgrades, now cost an additional 30% tokens.
- Glitch Gravity sell multipliers have been reduced by 50%, for a maximum sell multiplier of 1.25x (from 1.5x).
Additional balance changes have been made across Skull Island progression and seasonal equipment.
Time Traveler Improvements
The Time Traveler system has received several upgrades:- Slots increased from 5 to 10
- Two guaranteed backpack slots
- One guaranteed Skull Backpack slot
- Skull Backpacks can now appear directly through Time Traveler rewards
Seasonal Item Rebalancing
Many seasonal weapons, armor pieces, and backpacks have received balance adjustments.
Many seasonal weapons, armor pieces, and backpacks have received balance adjustments.
Notable changes include:
- Fixed Spartan Shovel interacting with the Pirate Backpack allowing players to instantly hit all spawned Parrots.
- Ender Backpack: Voidbroker rebalanced so it's no longer outclassing every other backpack. Higher levels hold back fewer blocks and pay a smaller bonus; early levels barely change.
- Mourneblade: (Ghost Sword): Reduced hit damage. Doubled lifesteal.
- Judgement (Sacred Sword): Now procs every 2nd hit, previously every 3rd hit. Added a 10 second cooldown per target.
- Static Disarm: (Voltage Sword): Increased disarm chance. Now disarms 2.5x as often.
- Frozen Blade: (Jolly Sword): Reduced bonus damage to frozen targets to +30%, previously +50%. Reduced freeze duration to 2 seconds, previously 3 seconds.
- Sun Eater: (Zenith Sword): Increased lifesteal vs burning enemies to ~7.5%, previously ~6%.
- Shark Bait: (Pirate Sword): Reduced ability damage by half.
- Ra's Wrath: (Ancient Helmet): Increased activation chance to 10%, previously 7.5%. Reduced debuff duration to 5 seconds, previously 10 seconds.
- Snake Eyes: (Ace Helmet): Now rolls every 15 seconds, previously 30 seconds. Reduced buff window to 7.5 seconds, previously 10 seconds.
- Snowball Barrage: (Jolly Helmet): Reduced freeze duration to 1 second, previously 2 seconds.
- Spell Thief: (Arcanist Chestplate): Increased rune steal chance to 5%, previously 2%.
- Squirting Flower: (Clown Chestplate): Increased drowning true damage to 1.75/s, previously 1.5/s.
These adjustments are intended to create healthier item diversity and prevent a small number of items from dominating gameplay.

New Features
- Gang Recruitment is now built into the Main Menu, putting it front and center for ease of use.

- Gang Recruitment will automatically advertise in chat, encouraging players to find teams. This will also mention our recruitment channel on Discord, which is now regularly moderated.
- Gangs now have a 72-hour member cooldown — if you leave a gang, you cannot rejoin the same gang for 72 hours.
- Gang Overheat: Gangs that place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd will have a 10%, 5%, or 3% points penalty applied the following month. This gives newer islands an edge and promotes fresh competition.
- Gang Permissions: A new permission system allowing you to specify exactly what blocks, ores, containers, and more each player on your gang can interact with. For example, you can allow visitors to break certain blocks, letting you set up public farms to bring traffic to your island, increase shop sales, show off your builds, meet friends, and help new players. Default presets will be available for popular configurations, but the system is fully customizable.
- Gang leaders and admins can now see a breakdown of who completed what percentage of gang milestones.
- Added /plot whitelist (add/remove) to quickly manage your plot's whitelist.
- You can now pin a specific gang milestone task to your scoreboard to track progress while grinding.
- Added page support to /gang who to view additional pages of gang members.
- Increased Gang Top points awarded from Gang Missions to 10,000 for Daily Missions and 50,000 for the Weekly Mission.

- When Skull Bosses spawn, their coordinates and Skull Island zone are now publicly displayed in chat.
- Skull Recaps have been added to /recap, letting you track your grinding sessions efficiently — just like you already can with mining.

- Reward lootpools rebalanced for Treasure Chests to include mana, angelic items, and more! These chests will no longer contain captains tools, but rather other various rewards.
