Here is everything you need to know about Complex Survival to start your epic journey!

Getting Started
Finding a home and creating your claim

Beginning Your Journey

Before you start your journey, you'll need to decide where to live! Complex Survival has many custom generated biomes, and finding the right one is easy. First, type /rtp (random teleport). A menu will pop up with several teleport options, plus a filter to pick specific vanilla biomes.

Each teleport option shows how much it costs to teleport there. The main options are:
  • The Overworld
    • A regular Minecraft world with custom generated terrain, open to everyone to explore and settle in!
  • The Resource World
    • Similar to the Overworld, but built for gathering the resources and materials you need to build your home. Land can't be claimed here, and it refreshes often to keep resources plentiful!
Filtering Biomes
In the /rtp menu, the heart of the sea and water bucket let you filter where you land. Click them to open a menu where you can select biomes by name, and the teleport will do its best to find a matching biome.

Creating a Claim
To protect your land on Complex Survival, create a claim by typing /claims. A menu will pop up showing an emerald block. Click it to create your claim, and a confirmation message will appear in chat.

Navigating the /claims Menu
Once you've made your claim, type /claims to open the Land menu. It shows a 9 x 5 chunk map of available and claimed chunks. Left-click to claim chunks on the map, or right-click to manage land you've already claimed.
The Claims Manage Menu has the following options:
  • Claim Home - Teleports you to your claim home.
  • Claim Warps - View / create claim warps.
  • Claim Permissions - View / edit claim permissions.
  • Claim Settings - View / manage claim settings.
  • Claim Shard Bank - Stores the Gold Shards that fuel your super hoppers.
  • Claim Upgrades - View / purchase claim upgrades:
    • Claim Members Limit
    • Claim Warps Limit
    • Public Warps Limit
    • Gold Shard Bank
  • Claim Members - View / manage claim members.
  • Delete / Leave Claim - Warning: this deletes your claim!
Creating Claim Warps
Once your land is claimed, run /claims list and click the ender pearl icon on the claim you want your warp in to open its management menu. Stand where you want the warp, then click the barrier block to create it. Right-click a warp to manage it, or left-click to teleport to it. If you don't want certain claim roles to use the warp, change that in the permissions section of your claim's menu.

You can also rename the warp, change its display item, show it on /pwarps, set or unset it as your claim's home warp, move its location, and pick a category for it to display under. Click the TNT block to delete the warp completely.

Making Your Warp Public (/pw)
Want other players to visit your shop, mob grinder, villager trading hall or anything else? Set up a public warp. First create a claim warp using the steps above. Then run /claims list, select your claim, open the claim warps menu and right-click your warp. Click the sign in the warp management menu to make it public, choose its category (grinder, market, etc), pick the icon it shows on the /pw menu, and more.

Guilds
The best way to play with your friends

Creating a Guild

Guilds are how you team up with friends on Complex Survival. To create one, run /guild create <name> if you're not already in a guild. Invite players with /guild invite <IGN>. To join a guild you've been invited to, use /guild join <name> and you're all set!

Guild Features
Run /guilds while in a guild to open the guild menu, where you can view the guild vault, logs, members and more. Here's what each feature does:
  • Guild Bank - A shared bank for all guild members to store money and experience.
  • Guild Vault - Store items that only your guild members can access, perfect for sharing gear.
  • Guild Top - See the current week's Guild Top standings and your own guild's placements at a glance.
  • Guild Upgrades - Upgrade guild features like Guild Bank capacity, member limit and Guild Vault slots.
  • Guild Missions - Roll random daily missions for your guild to complete for rewards!
  • Guild Claims - Create and view all of your guild's shared claims.
  • Guild Warps - Create, view and teleport to all shared warps set up by your guild members.
  • Guild Logs - View logs of players joining and leaving, items taken from and returned to the Guild Vault, and money deposited or withdrawn from the Guild Bank.
  • Guild Settings - Change settings like your guild's banner or name.
  • Guild Permissions - Manage all guild permissions for each rank: Visitor, Member, Mod and Admin.
  • Guild Members - See how many members your guild has and promote players.
  • Disband Guild - Leader only! Permanently deletes your guild.
  • Guild Statistics - A simple display of your statistics in the guild.
Guild Top
Guild Top is completely optional, but many players like adding a competitive side to Survival. Guild Top resets weekly and is based on the money your guild earns from each job in /jobs. Use /guild top to see which guild leads each job, how much they've earned, and how long is left until the winner is declared. At the end of the week, the guild that has earned the most from each job receives 25 GC, $200m IGM, a +1 reset vault slot voucher, and one of these random boosters for the week:
  • 1.3x Sell Booster (1 week)
  • 1.3x Head Drop Chance Booster (1 week)
  • 1.3x Job Payment Booster (1 week)
  • 1.3x McMMO Booster (1 week)
  • 1.3x Experience Booster (1 week)
Daily Rewards
Daily things you can do to get money easily

Voting

Voting is a quick and easy way to get money on Complex Survival. Type /vote in game and a link will pop up in chat that takes you to all 8 vanilla voting sites. Each site gives you rewards for voting for the Complex Network. Once your vote goes through, you receive 1 Vote Key, $500, 5 Mystery Dust and 5 minutes of Flight Time per voting link. You can vote once every 24 hours, per link.

Vote Parties
Vote Parties are an easy way to get crate keys without spending money on our /store. A vote party starts every 200 votes, and chat will alert you 1 minute before it begins. Check vote party status with /voteparty. During a vote party, you have a chance at any crate key on Survival (except Limited Time Crates). To be eligible, you need to have voted at least once in the past 24 hours. Check with /haveivotedtoday.

Dailies
Another way to get daily rewards is by typing /dailies in chat, which opens a menu where you can collect them. Buying a rank on the store unlocks more rewards each day (use /store to get the store link). Certain store ranks also get /freerunes, which gives you free runes.

Making Money: Farming, Jobs and Spawners
The basics of making money on Survival

Farming

Building the perfect farm can be tough, since not every method works for everyone. Automatic and manual farming each have their pros and cons. Manual farming gets the benefits of your hoe's runes and enchants, which can double your harvest's sell price, replant crops after breaking them, automatically sell your crops and much more. Automatic farming doesn't get these benefits, since there's no way to fully AFK with a hoe. Complex Survival has a dynamic economy, so crop prices rise and fall. Check the Crops and Harvest section of /shop to see current sell prices.

Automatic Farming
Villager farms are a great way to automate crop farming, giving you a passive supply of potatoes or carrots that sell for a decent price in /shop. These farms use villager breeding mechanics, catching the crops villagers throw to each other and storing them in chests for you to sell.

Manual Farming
Runes are very powerful on hoes, especially event crate hoes from special events. Runes like Greedy Greens, Herbalist, Holy Cultivation and more make manual crop farming one of the most profitable ways to make money on Complex Survival. The most efficient setup is large fields of potatoes or carrots within 4 blocks of water. Build your layout to be modular, so you can repeat it as many times as you want. The more crops you harvest, the more money you make.

View all runes with /infuser if you have a store rank, or /warp infuser for everyone else.

Jobs
Jobs are a great way for newer players to make money. Use /jobs to choose a job and see what it pays for (for example, logging pays $225 per log). Job money isn't deposited automatically. Instead, claim it from your paycheck in the top right of the /jobs menu. Once you pick a job, you can't switch for 24 hours. Players with our Plus subscription can hold two jobs at once.

Spawner Efficiency
Complex Survival has a spawner efficiency debuff. When more than 500 spawners are grouped together, their efficiency decreases using this formula: 30^-(x / 5000) + 0.25. Right-click a spawner to check its efficiency. It shows the spawners within 5 chunks (the affected area) and displays the efficiency as a percentage. Run /efficiency in game for a refresher.

AFK Farming
AFK farming is allowed with these rules:
  • One alt per farm per player.
  • Maximum of four alts per player.
  • One farm per spawner type per player.
  • Alts may only stand AFK at farms. No form of AFK action is permitted.
Other rules may apply that aren't listed here, so check our Vanilla Network Rules or type /rules in game for the link. We recommend building your farms to be as lossless as possible, using water pathways and plenty of hoppers to store as many items as possible.

Mob Tiers & Spawners
Complex Survival has a custom mob tier system and its own way to get mob spawners. Here's how it works!
  • Naturally spawned mobs have a chance to drop their head when killed. The more of a mob you kill, the higher your tier for that mob, and the higher its head drop chance.
  • You also need 8 Spawner Frames, which you can get from the Dragon's Dojo, Guild Missions or crates at spawn.
  • Once you have 8 Spawner Frames and 64 heads of one mob, combine them in a crafting table to craft one spawner for that mob. For example, 64 Iron Golem heads and 8 Spawner Frames craft one Iron Golem Spawner!
  • Use /spawners in game to see your mob tier for each mob, or for a refresher on how it works.

Coinflips
Coinflips are a game of luck where each player has a 50% chance of winning both players' wagers. You can wager in-game money (IGM), virtual store credit (GC) or an item you own. Run /cf to see all available coinflips!

To create a coinflip for IGM or GC, type /cf <amount>, which opens a menu to confirm the currency you're wagering. To coinflip an item, hold it in your main hand and type /cf hand to open a confirmation screen, where you can also select multiple items to wager. Click the green glass panes on the left to confirm, or the red glass panes on the right to cancel.

PvP and PvE
All you need to know about PvP and PvE on Survival

Warzone

PvP is enabled in the wilderness when both players toggle /pvp, but the Warzone is Complex Survival's dedicated PvP area. PvP is always on in the Warzone and can't be disabled. The Warzone uses 1.9+ combat, which discourages spam clicking and rewards timed attacks. Enter the Warzone with /warp pvp.

Envoys
Envoys are special loot events that only happen in the Warzone. They spawn on their own regularly, and can also be summoned with an Envoy Flare (which announces it in chat). Once an envoy spawns somewhere in the Warzone, the first player to claim it gets exclusive loot. See the possible loot with /envoys. Be quick, it's finders keepers!

The Dragon's Dojo
The Dragon's Dojo is the Complex Survival PvE area. Entry is free through the NPC at spawn, and you can teleport there instantly with /warp dojo.

When you enter the Dojo, you fly in like a battle bus. Press shift (sneak) to drop wherever you like, then use your gear to fight custom mobs you'll only find on Complex.

Dojo mobs can drop Complex-exclusive items like Gold Shards, Spawner Frames, Pouches, Runes and much more! See the full loot pool with /dojo or /dragonsdojo.

The Dojo also has exclusive bosses that spawn every so often, and Samurai Stashes, exclusive loot boxes you open with Treasure Keys for extra rewards.

There are also Dojo Events and Flash Events with special rewards. To see them, use /dojo and click the end crystal for Dojo Events or the skeleton skull for Dojo Flash Events.

Farming matters in the Dragon's Dojo too. You can harvest crops in the fields, chop logs in the forests, dig up blocks, fish in the magical pond or mine gems in the mines. Each area has its own NPC, and items farmed there sell for set prices with progressive sell multipliers.

For more on Dojo farming, click the rotating diamond tools at the bottom left of the /dojo menu to see every NPC and more information!

Runes, Super Hoppers and More
Special things available to you on Survival

Infuser and Runes

Runes are Complex Survival's custom enchants. You can get runes from the infuser at /warp infuser, which opens a menu showing which runes you can buy. There are 4 tiers available to purchase:
  • Common - 5,000 XP each
  • Rare - 20,000 XP each
  • Legendary - 50,000 XP each
  • Mythical - 100,000 XP each
Below those are crate exclusive runes, which were only available for a limited time from exclusive crates. These runes cannot be purchased! Next to them is a skull icon showing the Dragon's Dojo runes. These can't be purchased either, but you can see what each one does.

Below that is the magnifying glass, where you can identify the type, level and chance of unidentified runes found with the Rune Detector enchant. Rune Detector has a chance to drop unidentified runes when mining ores, and higher Rune Detector levels drop higher tier runes.

Next to the Rune Identifier is the clover, where you can buy Lucky Gems to increase the chance of your rune applying to your gear or tools. Each rune has a Success, Fail and Critical Fail percentage, and the more lucky gems you apply, the higher your Success percentage.

Hover over the book with a question mark to read more about Success, Fail and Critical Fail percentages.

Next to that book is the rune incinerator, where you can destroy any unwanted rune and convert it into its XP value.

Lastly, there are cleansing wands. A cleansing wand removes a single unwanted rune or enchant from any gear or tool, and is used up when you use it.

Reset Vault
Complex Survival is a long-term world and resets are rare. When a reset is announced, the Reset Vault lets you save items to use in the new world. It stays locked until an upcoming Survival reset is announced. Once it's unlocked, you can save items as long as you have an open slot. A few rules apply:
  • Once an item is saved to your Reset Vault, it can't be taken out until the map resets.
  • Stacked items, shulker boxes, spawners, runes, enchant books and pouches cannot be saved to the Reset Vault. 1 item per slot.
  • Enchanted items lose all their enchants when added to the Reset Vault. For example, a Diamond Pickaxe with Unbreaking 1 comes back as an unenchanted Diamond Pickaxe.
  • Seasonal items keep their base enchants when added to the Reset Vault, but not any runes or enchants added later. They come back exactly how they were when first pulled from the seasonal crate.
To check out the Reset Vault in game, type /warp resetvault.

Clue Scrolls
Clue scrolls are an easy way to earn rewards by completing tasks, like breaking or placing blocks, typing something in chat, or crafting an item to solve a riddle. There are 3 types of scrolls on Survival: Ronin, Daimyo and Emperor.

Rewards include Wands, Tags, Spawners, Diamond/Emerald Blocks and much more! You can get scrolls from dailies and crates, buy them on /ah, or claim them with /cluescrolls if you have a rank. That command also shows the casks with rewards for each scroll tier. Click the barrel with the matching scroll name to see what its cask can contain.

Boosters
Boosters increase all XP or money you earn by a set multiplier for a set amount of time. Survival boosters come in 1.5x, 2.0x or 3.0x multipliers, lasting 5, 10, 20 or 30 minutes, or 1 hour. You can get boosters from crates and the Dojo, or buy them on /store. Boosters are single use and are consumed when you drink them.

Leaderboards
Weekly leaderboards are a great way to earn store credit for ranks, crate keys, boosters, tools and more! You earn Leaderboard Points by placing in the top 10 of any /leaderboard category. At the end of each week, the top 12 players with the most points are rewarded with store credit.

Auction House
The Auction House is another vital part of the Survival economy. You can buy and sell items that aren't available in the regular /shop, like Tags, Runes, XP, Gold Shards and more. Selling rare and exclusive items on the Auction House is an important way to earn extra money. Open it with /ah in game, and items you buy will appear in /ah collect.

Super Hoppers
Super hoppers make your grinders and farms fully automated when it comes to storage. Type /hoppershop or /hoppers to open a menu where you can buy them. Unlike regular hoppers, super hoppers have their own upgrade system. Note that super hoppers use Gold Shards as upkeep, which you add to your claim's shard bank through the /claims list menu.

Super hoppers can link directly to chests to move items into your storage system. The number of chests one hopper can link to depends on how much you've upgraded it.
  • Each link is 1 regular or double chest.
  • Hoppers can also be linked to barrels.
To link your hopper to a chest, left-click the purple portal block in the super hopper's menu, then click the chest you want to link when prompted in chat.
  • Your chest must be within 100 blocks of the super hopper.
To unlink a chest, right-click the purple portal block. Every chest connected to that hopper will show red and green particles. Click the chest you want to unlink when prompted.

Managing Links
Once your hoppers are linked, you can manage each link individually and change its settings to fit your grinder, farm or whatever you're using it for. Managing links isn't required for an efficient farm, but it's very helpful for staying organized.

Whitelisting
Whitelisting only lets the items you choose into the chest. To set it up, manage the chest and toggle the filter mode to whitelist, then click the items you want added and they'll be copied into the filter.
That's it, you've set up a great way to filter out unwanted items. See the Deleting Items section for the optional next step in building an effective storage system.

Blacklisting
Blacklisting works the other way: items you select won't be picked up by the hopper. Don't use this to block every item in the game though. If you only want a few items, whitelisting is much quicker.

Deleting Items
Enable or disable deleting filtered items.
Regular hoppers only pick up items within 1 block, but super hoppers can upgrade their suction radius to pull items from further away, which is great for farms, mob grinders and more. Each upgrade costs a bit more than the last and increases the radius by one block. Left-click a super hopper for more details!

The Blacksmith
The Blacksmith is an NPC at spawn (or /warp blacksmith) that restores durability on your gear, or fully restores it if it's shattered (out of durability). You'll need a Mending Glyph to restore durability, or a Reforge Glyph to fully restore a shattered item. These glyphs aren't guaranteed to work. They have a chance to fail and make you lose a random rune, so it's recommended to max out the percentages shown on the glyphs with Lucky Gems before using them!
