Cobblemon Crashing? How to Fix It
Fixes for crashes, freezes and errors in Cobblemon and Cobbleverse
Short answer: Most Cobblemon and Cobbleverse crashes come from three things: not enough RAM, extra mods or shaders that conflict with the modpack, or an outdated modpack. Give the game 4 GB of RAM or more, remove any mods or shaders you added yourself, and update the modpack in the CurseForge App. If it still crashes, reinstall the modpack and send your crash report to support. On Complex Cobblemon, we recommend playing the official modpack exactly as it comes, in the CurseForge App.
⚡ Quick facts
Most common cause: not enough RAM
Second most common: added mods or shaders conflicting with the modpack
RAM to use: 3 to 5 GB for Cobblemon, 4 to 6 GB or more for Cobbleverse
Best launcher: the CurseForge App

Fix 1: Give it more RAM
Modpacks need much more memory than regular Minecraft, and running out of memory is the number one cause of crashes and freezes.
- Cobblemon modpacks: 3 to 5 GB, with 4 GB working best for most computers.
- COBBLEVERSE: at least 4 GB, and 6 GB or more is recommended.
In the CurseForge App, go to Settings, then Minecraft, then Java Settings, and set Allocated Memory. In the Modrinth App, open the modpack's settings and set the memory. Don't give it more than about half of your computer's total RAM.
Fix 2: Remove extra mods and shaders
Shaders and mods you add yourself are one of the most common causes of crashes we see. They can conflict with the mods already in the pack.
- Remove any mods, shaders or resource packs you added after installing the modpack.
- Launch the game. If it works, the problem was one of the files you added.
- Add them back one at a time to find the one causing the crash.
Unless you know what you're doing, play the modpack exactly as it comes. If you do want to add shaders, see
How to Add Shaders and Mods to Cobblemon.
Fix 3: Update the modpack
Old versions can crash or fail to join servers. In the CurseForge App or Modrinth App, click
Update on the modpack when it appears, then launch again.
Fix 4: Reinstall the modpack
If nothing else works, files may be broken. Delete the modpack from your launcher and install it again from its official page, like the
Complex Cobblemon modpack on CurseForge. Back up any single player worlds first.
Crashes when riding, battling or opening the PC
If the game only crashes during one action, like riding a Pokémon, starting a battle or opening the PC, it's almost always an added mod or shader conflicting with Cobblemon, or an outdated modpack. Remove anything you added (Fix 2) and update the modpack (Fix 3).
Cobblemon and Lunar Client
- Complex Cobblemon modpack: works with Lunar Client, but we recommend the CurseForge App for the fewest problems.
- COBBLEVERSE: doesn't work with Lunar Client. Install it with the CurseForge App instead.
Other common errors
- "Mismatched mods", "outdated client" or "outdated server": your modpack doesn't match the server. Update it and don't add or remove mods.
- Stuck on the loading screen: the first launch is slow, so give it a few minutes. If it never finishes, raise your RAM and restart the launcher.
- Missing textures on Complex: type /resourcepack in game.
- Low FPS or lag: lower your render distance to 8 to 10 chunks and turn off shaders.
- Keybinds not working: open Options, Controls, Key Binds and check that two mods aren't using the same key.
