Skyblock Clue Scrolls Guide: Types, Rewards and How to Get Them (2026)

Short answer: Clue scrolls are quest items on Complex Skyblock (hub.mc-complex.com). Hold one and right-click to get a clue, like mining blocks, killing mobs, fishing or solving a riddle. Finish every clue and the scroll turns into a Cask with 3 random rewards, such as spawners, minions, crate keys, money pouches, tags and boosters. There are 3 types: Papyrus (5 clues), Cactus (7 clues) and Emerald (10 clues). Get them free with a rank in /cluescrolls, or from crates, envoys, Tomb Expeditions, the Dungeon Shop and other players.

Clue scroll types​

A Mystery Clue Scroll reward gives you a random Papyrus, Cactus or Emerald scroll, each with the same chance.

How to use a clue scroll​

1. Hold one clue scroll in your main hand (not a stack) and right-click. The scroll gets its first clue, shown in its description.
2. Do the task. The scroll shows your progress, like 120/150, and how many clues you've finished.
3. When the clue is done, right-click again to get the next one. Each new clue is picked at random, so the same task can come up twice.
4. After the last clue, right-click the scroll to turn it into a Cask.
5. Right-click the Cask to open it and get 3 random rewards.

Progress counts while the scroll is anywhere in your own inventory, not just in your hand. It doesn't count while the scroll is in a chest or backpack. Your progress is saved on the scroll itself, so it stays when you log off, switch servers or trade the scroll.

What kinds of clues are there?​

Each scroll type has its own pool of clues, and harder scrolls ask for bigger amounts. Clues include:

• Gathering: mine stone or ores, chop logs, harvest crops, fish and shear sheep.
• Combat: kill a number of a certain mob.
• Skills: gain EXP or enchant items at an enchanting table.
• Island: place a minion, or claim items from your minions.
• Runes: apply runes, or open rune tomes (Cactus and Emerald).
• Server: open crate keys or play for a set time (Cactus and Emerald), or post an item on the auction house or type a phrase in chat (Cactus).
• Exploring: walk or swim a distance.
• Riddles: a short riddle you solve by crafting, breaking, placing or using the right item. We don't post riddle answers, so solving them is up to you.

There's no time limit on any clue, and you can't skip one, so pick the scrolls you have time for.

Free clue scrolls by rank​

Type /cluescrolls (or talk to the Scrollkeeper at spawn) to claim free scrolls. Every rank can also claim the free scrolls of all the ranks below it, so a Pharaoh claims all 5 buttons:

Other ways to get clue scrolls​

• Crates: the Vote, Anubis, Horus and Ra crates and seasonal crates can give clue scrolls. Horus crates can give 3 Emerald or 3 Mystery Clue Scrolls at once.
• Envoys: the hourly envoy loot chests can drop Mystery and Emerald Clue Scrolls.
• Tomb Expeditions: Expeditions 1 and 8 give a Mystery Clue Scroll and Expedition 2 gives a Cactus Clue Scroll the first time you clear them. See our Pharaoh's Tomb Guide.
• Dungeon Shop: buy scrolls with Dungeon Coins: Papyrus 10,000, Cactus 15,000 and Emerald 25,000.
• Personal milestones: in /milestones, completing your first quest gives a Papyrus Clue Scroll, and completing your first clue scroll gives a Mystery Clue Scroll.
• Seasonal runes: some seasonal crate runes can find clue scrolls while you fish or dig.
• Other players: scrolls are tradeable, so look on the auction house (/ah) and in player shops (/pwarps).

Clue scroll rewards​

Every Cask gives 3 rewards, and each one is rolled on its own, so you can get the same reward more than once. The chances below are per roll. You can also preview every Cask's rewards in /cluescrolls. Rewards can change between seasons.

Clue scroll tips​

• Run several at once: every scroll in your inventory with the same active clue gets the progress at the same time.
• Keep them on you: scrolls in chests or backpacks don't progress.
• Use them before the reset: scrolls and Casks can't be saved in the Reset Vault, so open them before the season ends. See our Skyblock Reset and Reset Vault Guide.
• Help your island: finishing scrolls counts toward the Complete Cluescrolls island mission (3 on Casual, 15 on Competitive).
• Climb the leaderboard: /lb has a Scrolls Completed category.
