/rankup or

How ranks work
Every new player starts at rank A, right in front of Mine A. Mine blocks, sell them for money, and spend that money to rank up to the next letter. Each rank unlocks its own mine with better blocks, and you can still mine in any mine below your rank.
- /rankup (or /ru) ranks you up once.
- /rankupmax (or /rumax) ranks you up as many times as your money allows.
- /ranks shows every rank and its price.
- /mine opens the mine menu, and /mine <rank> teleports you straight to a mine, for example /mine k.
- Every rankup also gives you a Rankup crate key.
Complex Prison is a slower, balanced server, not an OP economy that is over in two weeks. Going from A to Z and reaching your first prestige usually takes a few months of regular play.
All 26 ranks and their costs
These are the base prices, before your first prestige. After you prestige, every rank costs more (see the prestige table below).
| Rank | Cost | Rank | Cost |
|---|
A | Free (starting rank) | N | $5.61M |
B | $2,000 | O | $9.54M |
C | $3,600 | P | $16.2M |
D | $6,500 | Q | $27.6M |
E | $12,000 | R | $46.8M |
F | $21,500 | S | $79.5M |
G | $39,000 | T | $135M |
H | $70,000 | U | $231M |
I | $375,000 | V | $393M |
J | $675,000 | W | $672M |
K | $1.149M | X | $1.14B |
L | $1.95M | Y | $1.95B |
M | $3.3M | Z | $3.33B |
In total, ranking from A to Z costs about
$8.04B. The last three ranks (X, Y and Z) make up more than 75% of that, so expect the end of each run to take the longest.
Some mines also have a
Vote Crate inside, so you can open your vote keys without leaving: mines A, G, K, P, U and Z, and Prestige mines I, III, V and VII. The /mine menu marks them with a check.
How prestige works
Once you reach rank Z, use
/rankup again (or open
/prestige) to prestige. A confirm screen shows the price and your rewards before anything happens.
- What resets: only your rank. You go back to rank A and get sent to spawn.
- What you keep: everything else, including your money, tokens, pickaxe, enchants and backpack.
- What it costs: the prestige price, paid in money (see the table below).
- What changes: every rank from A to Z costs more on each new prestige, so each run is longer than the last.
Every prestige gives you:
- Escapist crate keys and Prisoner crate keys (more on every prestige)
- 2 random Prestige tags
- +25 Mana cap (Mana powers your pickaxe hotstreaks)
- 1 Augment Pack (augments are only available from prestiging, see the Augments Guide)
- Access to that prestige's mine (Prestige I to XII)
- New pickaxe enchants and enchant perks at certain prestiges
All 12 prestiges: costs, rewards and unlocks
"Rank prices" shows how much more every A to Z rankup costs while you are at that prestige. For example, at Prestige I rank Z costs about $3.86B instead of $3.33B.
| Prestige | Cost to prestige | Rank prices | Escapist / Prisoner keys |
|---|
I | $4B | 1.16x | 1 / 1 |
II | $4.97B | 1.62x | 1 / 2 |
III | $6.71B | 2x | 2 / 4 |
IV | $9.56B | 5.08x | 4 / 6 |
V | $14.17B | 11.88x | 6 / 9 |
VI | $21.66B | 21.66x | 9 / 13 |
VII | $34.01B | 36.92x | 12 / 17 |

Prestige Pioneer Tax
To keep the top of the leaderboard competitive, the 30 players furthest ahead (highest prestige, then highest rank) pay extra on every rankup and prestige:
- #1 to #7: +50%
- #8 to #14: +30%
- #15 to #30: +15%
The list updates every 5 minutes. If you are not in the top 30, you pay the normal price.
How to rank up faster
- Upgrade your pickaxe early: spend tokens in /upgrade, starting with Lucky Mining (more tokens) and Auto Sell. See the Prison Pickaxe Enchants Guide.
- Upgrade your backpack: a bigger backpack means fewer trips to sell.
- Play on Sundays: selling pays 30% more on Sundays.
- Use /rankupmax: it buys every rank you can afford in one go.
- Reset your mine: stand in a mine you have access to and use /resetmine to refill it. Every player can use it, with a cooldown of 1 to 6 hours depending on your rank.
- Use the Vote Crates: vote every day and open your keys in the mines that have a Vote Crate.
- Join a gang: gang events and Flash Mines pay tokens and sell boosters.
