Prison Gold Shards Guide
How to get Gold Shards, the Shard Merchant's prices and what to spend them on
Short answer: Gold Shards are Complex Prison's (hub.mc-complex.com) rare currency. You get them from Skull Island mobs, the Scavenged Shards and Swindled Shards enchants, milestones and Envoys. Spend them on backpack upgrades, prestige pickaxe skins and the
Shard Merchant on Skull Island tiers 2 and 3, which sells Hidden Treasure, PvP Beacons, Silver Tickets and more. Gold Shards are
contraband, so they drop if you die on Skull Island.

Gold Shards are contraband
Keep inventory is on, but
contraband drops when you die in a PvE world like Skull Island, and combat logging drops it too.
- Contraband items: Gold Shards, Gold Coins, Sea Biscuits, Pirate's Grog, PvP Beacons, Lodestones, Ancient Acid, Silver Tickets and Hidden Treasure.
- Backpacks don't protect it: your backpack itself never drops, but contraband stored inside it does.
- Reset Vault: contraband can't go in the Reset Vault.
- Tip: spend or store your shards outside Skull Island often, so a bad fight doesn't cost you everything.
