How to Join a Minecraft Server on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch
Step-by-step for consoles, phones and Windows PC (2026)
Short answer: On phones, tablets and Windows PC you can add any Bedrock server from the
Servers tab. Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch only show a short list of Featured servers, so console players use one of two free workarounds: a phone companion app that shows the server in your Friends tab, or a quick DNS change that unlocks an "add server" screen. This guide walks through both, using Complex Gaming (
hub.mc-complex.com, port
19132) as the example.
⚡ Quick facts
Server IP: hub.mc-complex.com
Bedrock port: 19132
Works on: Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, iPhone, Android, tablets and Windows PC
Bedrock game modes: Skyblock, Prison, Factions, Survival and Hunger Games
Java only: Cobblemon and Pixelmon
Last checked: October 2026
Why consoles can't add servers
On Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, the
Servers tab only lists Minecraft's Featured servers, and there's no "Add Server" button. That's a console limitation, not a server one. Phones, tablets and Windows PC don't have this limit, so they can add any server directly. Consoles need one small workaround first, and after that you join like everyone else.
How to join on phone, tablet or Windows PC
- Open Minecraft and tap Play.
- Go to the Servers tab and scroll to the bottom.
- Tap Add Server.
- Server Name: Complex Gaming. Server Address: hub.mc-complex.com. Port: 19132.
- Tap Save, then tap the server to join.
At the hub, pick Skyblock, Prison, Factions or Survival with the compass or the NPCs.
Console method 1: phone companion app
A free companion app on your phone (BedrockTogether is a popular one) can make a server show up in your console's
Friends tab, like a friend's world.
- Install the app on a phone that's on the same Wi-Fi as your console.
- Enter hub.mc-complex.com and port 19132, then start it.
- On your console, open Minecraft and go to the Friends tab. The server shows under joinable games.
- Join it, and keep the app open on your phone until you're in.
This is the easiest way on Xbox and PlayStation. It works less reliably on Switch, where the DNS method below is usually better. These apps change from time to time, so follow the app's own current steps if they look different.
Console method 2: DNS change
This works on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. You point your console's DNS at
BedrockConnect, a free community tool that turns Minecraft's Featured server list into a menu where you can type any server address.
- Primary DNS: 104.238.130.180 (BedrockConnect, United States)
- Secondary DNS: 8.8.8.8
BedrockConnect isn't run by Complex Gaming. Before you change anything, write down your current DNS settings (or note that they're on Automatic) so you can switch back afterwards. Your console's own steps are below.
Once the DNS is set:
- Open Minecraft, go to the Servers tab and join any Featured server.
- Instead of that server, the BedrockConnect menu opens. Choose Connect to a Server.
- Server Address: hub.mc-complex.com. Port: 19132. Tick the box to save it to your list.
- Join. Next time, Complex Gaming is waiting in that menu.
How to join on Xbox
Easiest: use the phone companion app (method 1).
DNS method:
- Press the Xbox button and go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
- Select Advanced settings > DNS settings > Manual.
- Enter 104.238.130.180 as primary DNS and 8.8.8.8 as secondary DNS.
- Open Minecraft and follow the DNS steps above.
How to join on PlayStation
Easiest: use the phone companion app (method 1).
DNS method (PS5 and PS4):
- Open Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection (on PS4: Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection).
- Choose your network and open Advanced Settings (PS4: choose Custom).
- Set DNS Settings to Manual, with 104.238.130.180 as primary and 8.8.8.8 as secondary.
- Save, open Minecraft and follow the DNS steps above.
How to join on Nintendo Switch
The DNS method is the most reliable way on Switch.
- Open System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings and pick your network.
- Select Change Settings > DNS Settings > Manual.
- Enter 104.238.130.180 as primary DNS and 8.8.8.8 as secondary DNS, then Save.
- Open Minecraft and follow the DNS steps above.
To undo it on any console, go back to the same DNS screen and set it to
Automatic.
What to know when playing on Bedrock
- Same server, same players: Bedrock and Java players play together on Skyblock, Prison, Factions, Survival and Hunger Games, and can share the same island or faction.
- A dot before your name: Bedrock players' names show with a "." in front (for example .Steve), so names never clash with Java players.
- Separate accounts: Bedrock and Java accounts can't be linked, so progress on one doesn't carry over to the other.
- Java only: Complex Cobblemon and Complex Pixelmon are modded, so they need Java Edition on a PC.
- Need help? Open a support ticket in the Complex Gaming Discord.
Can't connect? Try this
- Double-check the address (hub.mc-complex.com) and port (19132).
- Update Minecraft to the latest version.
- If the BedrockConnect menu doesn't appear right away, fully restart the console and try a different Featured server. Consoles can take a few minutes to pick up a DNS change.
- With the companion app, keep your phone and console on the same Wi-Fi, with the app open.
- Still stuck? Open a ticket in our Discord and staff will help.
