Complex Tags Guide: Every Tag and How to Get It (2026)

Short answer: Tags are cosmetic titles shown in brackets before your name in chat and above your head on Complex Gaming's Skyblock, Prison, Factions, Survival and Creative servers. Type /tags to see and equip yours. You get tags from crates, the Golden Merchant, Envoys, Clue Scrolls, events, Prison prestiges, voting, the Dungeons Shop and milestones. Once you own a tag you keep it forever, on every game mode and through every reset. There are 1,944 tags to collect, and 119 of them can be earned right now.

Tags at a glance

How tags work

Every tag is a short title in dark gray brackets that appears in front of your rank and name in chat and as its own line above your head. Many tags use gradients, bold text or scrambled edges, and hovering over a tag in chat shows its description, when it was released, where it came from and how many players own it.

• Equip a tag: type /tags and click any tag you own. Click the barrier to take it off. You wear one tag at a time.
• Browse every tag: /alltags opens the same menu on All Tags. You can filter by Your, Unowned or All tags, switch the game mode category, search by name or crate, and sort by Rarity (fewest owners first), Age or Alphabetical.
• Different tag on each game mode: your owned tags work everywhere, but the tag you have equipped is saved per game mode, so you can wear one tag on Skyblock and another on Prison.
• Show off your collection: type [tags] in chat and it turns into a clickable link that lets other players view all of your tags.
• Presets: /presets saves nickname, tag and color combinations so you can switch looks in one click. Everyone gets 2 preset slots, and higher store ranks unlock more, up to 14.
• Match your nickname to your tag: a button in /tags colors your /nick with your tag's colors. It's available with the top store ranks.
• Above your head: on Factions, tags above heads are hidden from players who are in combat, so they don't get in the way of fights.

Tag Vouchers and trading

Most tags drop as a Tag Voucher, a paper item with the tag's name on it. Right-click it to unlock the tag, and the server announces it to everyone along with how many players now own it. You can't redeem a voucher for a tag you already own.

• Trade and sell: unredeemed Tag Vouchers are normal items. Trade them, list them on the auction house (it has a Tags filter) or post them on /market Hauls.
• Resets: tags you've unlocked are kept forever. If you're holding unredeemed vouchers at a reset, you can store them in your Reset Vault or simply redeem them first.

How to get tags

Tags come from almost everything on Complex. Here's every source in the game right now.

Crates

• Vote Crates: every vote crate can drop the Voter tag, and there's a rare chance at ▒▒Eldritch▒▒. On Prison, Eldritch comes from the rank vote crates, and the Prestige 1, 3 and 7 vote crates each hold a rare dinosaur tag: Spinosaurus, Mosasaurus and Plesiosaurus.
• Season crates: every season crate gets a brand-new tag each season, so older crate tags become rarer over time. This season: Skyblock Anubis Thistle, Horus Toadstool and Ra Cinder; Survival Samurai Gourd and Shogun Overcast and Molasses; Prison Prisoner Ochre, Escapist Blanket and Rankup Haybale; Factions Lunar Toasted and Solar Scarecrow and Crow.
• Limited-time crates: crates like Void and Oni have 3 common tags and 1 rare tag (with scrambled edges) for each game mode, plus a tiny chance at a Custom Tag Voucher. When a limited crate returns, its tags come back with it.

Golden Merchant

Spend Gold Shards at the Golden Merchant in each game mode's PvE area. These tags rotate with the seasons.

Envoys

Every envoy you open has a 0.1% chance to roll the Legendary tier, and its reward is that game mode's envoy tag: Pepper on Skyblock, Oregano on Survival, Rosemary on Prison and Basil on Factions.

Clue Scrolls

Clue Scrolls can reward a dinosaur tag. On Skyblock: Papyrus Liopleurodon, Cactus Stegosaurus and Emerald Triceratops. On Survival: Ronin Iguanodon, Daimyo Brontosaurus and Emperor Baryonyx.

Events

Win a staff event (Spleef, TNT Run, tournaments, hide and seek, mazes and more) and you get every event tag for that game mode at once. Skyblock: Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones and The Beatles. Survival: Nirvana, Guns N' Roses and Metallica. Prison: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.

Prison prestiges

Every time you prestige on Prison you get 2 random tag vouchers from this season's prestige pool of 30 food and drink tags: Pizza, Burger, Sushi, Taco, Ramen, Pho, Lasagna, Gnocchi, Pierogi, Schnitzel, Kebab, Shawarma, Gyro, Teriyaki, Tempura, Kimchi, Tandoori, Biryani, Gumbo, Chili, Fajita, Quesadilla, Fries, Brisket, Matcha, Chai, Soda, Smoothie, Kombucha, Horchata. Each Prison season brings a new pool.

Dungeons Shop

Spend Dungeon Coins in the Dungeons shop:

• Overworld: 100,000 Dungeon Coins, Dungeon Level 10
• Nether: 200,000 Dungeon Coins, Dungeon Level 25
• Shopkeeper: 250,000 Dungeon Coins, no level needed
• End: 350,000 Dungeon Coins, Dungeon Level 50

Milestones, Pond Mastery and Raid Camps

These tags unlock straight onto your account, no voucher needed:

• Personal Milestones: complete every Personal Milestone in a game mode for its final tag: MONUMENTAL on Skyblock, FORMIDABLE on Prison, WARLORD on Factions and PRODIGY on Survival.
• Pond Mastery: reach 250 team captures in Pond events and every member of the team gets Verdancy (Skyblock, Survival and Prison).
• Factions Raid Camps: the first clear of Camp 4 gives BluePrinter, Camp 8 gives TNT License and the final camp gives 45. See the raiding guide.
• Creative ranks: ranking up on Creative unlocks Beginner, Builder, Experienced, Master and Grand-Master, and they work on every game mode.

Black Market

Every Black Market listing includes 2 random tag vouchers from that game mode's limited-time crates, so it's a second chance at tags from crates that aren't around anymore.

Custom tags

A Custom Tag Voucher lets you design your own tag. Redeem it by opening a ticket in our Discord and staff will create it for you. Custom tags can't be bought; you earn them by:

• Finishing #1 on Island Top (Skyblock, monthly)
• Finishing #1 on Gang Top (Prison, monthly)
• Winning FTOP for the season on Factions
• A very rare drop from limited-time crates

Custom tags belong to the player who designed them, so they can't be traded. Leaderboard winners also often get their own champion tag. See every leaderboard on Complex for the other prizes.

Tags you can get right now

Here are all 119 tags you can earn today, not counting custom and champion tags. Season crate, event and merchant tags change with each season, so grab them while they're here.

Every tag on Complex

This is every collectible tag on Complex Gaming, 1,944 in all, grouped by game mode and where it came from. Most older tags can't be earned anymore, which is what makes them rare, but they still show up in /alltags and trade on the auction house. Player-designed custom tags, champion tags and staff tags aren't listed here. Open a section to see its tags in their in-game colors.
