My slayer minion on skyblock is not doing anything

I have placed it right next to my pig, cow, and sheep spawners and placed it next to the end of my spider spawner but it still hasn't killed anything. I tried giving it a sword too in the item collection menu but the minion won't take it. Is there something I'm missing on how to use a slayer minion or is this a server issue? My mc user is firepenguin711 too if seeing my island is helpful.
