Can You Play Cobblemon on Bedrock?
The short answer, why, and what Bedrock players can do instead
Short answer: No. Cobblemon only works on Minecraft Java Edition. There is no official Cobblemon for Bedrock Edition, so you can't play it on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, phones or tablets. If you play on a Windows PC, though, you very likely already own Java Edition, and you can be playing Cobblemon in a few minutes.
Why Cobblemon is Java only
Cobblemon is a Java mod that runs on the Fabric and NeoForge mod loaders. It adds new Pokemon models, battles, items and menus to your game, so it has to be installed on your own copy of Minecraft. Bedrock Edition can't load Java mods at all, and Bedrock add-ons work completely differently. That's why every Cobblemon server, including ours, needs players to join from Java Edition with the mod installed.
Some Bedrock add-ons use the Cobblemon name, but they are unofficial fan projects. They are not Cobblemon and they can't connect to Cobblemon servers.
Can Bedrock players join a Cobblemon server with Geyser?
No. Tools like Geyser let Bedrock players join regular Java servers, but Cobblemon needs the mod on your own device. A Bedrock player joining through Geyser would not see Pokemon, battles or any Cobblemon menus, so Cobblemon servers don't support it.
How to play Cobblemon if you're on Bedrock
- On a Windows PC: Minecraft for PC is sold as "Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition", so if you bought it on PC you most likely already own Java. Open the Minecraft Launcher, pick Java Edition, then install a Cobblemon modpack.
- On Mac or Linux: Java Edition is the version that runs on these computers, so you're already set.
- On console or mobile: Cobblemon isn't available. You'll need a PC or Mac with Java Edition to play it.
How to join Complex Cobblemon on Java
- Install the official Complex Cobblemon modpack from CurseForge or Modrinth. It sets up Minecraft 1.21.1 and every mod you need. Give it 3 to 5 GB of RAM (4 GB is best).
- Launch the modpack.
- Go to Multiplayer, click Add Server and enter cobblemon.mc-complex.com.
- Join and accept the server resource pack. Your rival meets you at spawn to choose your starter, then take on all 18 gyms, the Battle Tower, the Battle Cafe and the Elite Four, and hunt free legendary spawns (boost your odds with /legend).
