Pixelmon Custom Gear Guide: Gear Sets, Infusions and Essences (2026)

Short answer: Pixelmon custom gear on Complex Pixelmon (pixel.mc-complex.com) is seasonal gear with themed abilities that proc, or activate, while you play. You get it from seasonal crates at /warp crates, using keys from the Donor Store, and a new set comes out every month. What is Pixelmon custom gear?​

Custom gear is a seasonal crate reward on Complex Pixelmon. Each gear set has a theme, and its abilities fit that theme, so every set has different uses.

• Procs: when a gear piece procs (activates), you trigger its effect.
• New sets: a new gear set comes out every month.
• Upgrades: add infusions with evolution stones and level up pieces with Seasonal Essence.
• Safe between wipes: custom gear is one of the few things you can carry through a reset in the Reset Vault.

On Cobblemon: seasonal crates include custom gear too, but on Cobblemon it is cosmetic only, with no abilities or procs.

How to get custom gear​

1. Buy seasonal crate keys on the Donor Store.
2. Open your keys at /warp crates in game.
3. Crate keys only last around a month. Check the date in your key's item lore and use it before it runs out.

How procs and abilities work​

• Every gear piece has its own effect. When it procs, the effect triggers.
• To see a set's effects, run /gear [Gear Set] in game and hover over each item.
• /gear on its own shows the list of seasonal gear sets.
• Overmaxed pieces can also trigger their overmax effect, but only by chance (see Seasonal Essence below).

Infusions for custom gear​

Just like you can use evolution stones on vanilla tools, you can use them on custom gear as infusions. Each stone gives an effect:

• Full set needed: the infusion effect only works when all four armor pieces have the same infusion.
• One per piece: a gear piece holds one infusion at a time. Applying a new one replaces the old one.
• Where to get stones: crates, other gear sets, or other players.

Seasonal Essence and Overmax​

Seasonal Essence upgrades a custom gear item by 1 level. Most players use it on a max-level item to Overmax it.

• Where to get it: Dungeons, Clan Crates, Skindex Progression, and at very low chances from some gear pieces (for example, the Cinder Axe Overmax).
• Dungeon Vault Shop: Seasonal Essence can also show up in the Pixelmon Dungeon Vault Shop for 11,250 Dungeon Coins.
• One per item: you can only use Seasonal Essence once per gear item, so you can't level a piece from 1 to 5 with essences.
• Overmax needs Tier 5: you can only Overmax a Tier 5 gear piece.
• What Overmax does: depending on the item, it can raise your proc chance or give a whole new effect.
• Not guaranteed: an overmaxed piece only has a chance to trigger its overmax when it procs.

Keep your gear safe in the Reset Vault​

Custom gear is one of the few things you can bring with you through a server reset, using the Reset Vault.

1. When a reset is announced in Server Announcements on Discord, we say when the Reset Vault opens.
2. Open it with /rv and click the item in your inventory to add it.
3. After every wipe, take your items out and store them back in the Reset Vault for the next one.
