How to trade safely with /safetrade and avoid scams
Short answer: To trade safely in Cobblemon on Complex Cobblemon (cobblemon.mc-complex.com) or Complex Pixelmon (pixel.mc-complex.com), always use /safetrade (also /trade). Both players put their side of the deal in one menu, so nobody can run off with your Pokemon, items, coins or gems. Before you trade, confirm the deal in chat, check the other player's playtime and balance, and take uncropped screenshots. How to trade safely in Cobblemon
Trading with other players is a big part of Complex. Follow these steps for every deal so you don't get scammed:- Know exactly what you want. Be patient and look through what the other player offers. For a Pokemon, check the exact stats, such as breedable or unbreedable, BP (Battle Perfect) and HA (Hidden Ability).
- Show it in chat. Use {pokemon[Slot]} and {item[Slot]} to post a Pokemon or item in chat. Other players can hover over it to see its stats or description.
- Confirm the deal in chat. Before anyone sends anything, spell out the deal and wait for the other player to say yes. For example: "To confirm, I am buying your BP Unbreedable Riolu for $600,000 coins, correct?"
- Take uncropped screenshots of the conversation and of any chat posts of the Pokemon or items. This is your evidence for Staff if something goes wrong.
- Trade with /safetrade. Both players put their side of the deal in the SafeTrade menu, so neither side can be scammed.
- Check what you got right away. Look through all stats and inspect every item. If coins or gems were involved, check /bal history for the right amount.
⚠️ Watch out: Check your side of the deal as soon as you receive it. The sooner you spot a problem, the better Staff can help you.
How to use /safetrade
/safetrade (also /trade) opens a trade menu that you can set up to match the deal you agreed on. You can trade Pokemon, items from your inventory, coins and gems.| Command | What it does |

- Blocked items: shulker boxes, books and spawners can't be put in a trade.
- Trade cooldown on Cobblemon: Pokemon you receive from a trade, the GTS or the auction house get a 12-hour trade cooldown before they can be traded again.
- Trade evolutions: use /tradesim <slot> to evolve a Pokemon that needs a trade, instead of a real trade with its cooldown.
Checks to make before any deal

| /seen IGN | Shows information on a player. The first joined date helps you judge if an account looks legitimate. |
| /bal history | Shows every change to your balance, so you can confirm you got or paid the agreed amount. |
| /pay IGN coins [Amount] | Pays coins to another player. Gems can't be sent with /pay, so trade them through /safetrade. |
Trading on Discord
- Confirm their IGN and server. For example: "For confirmation, can I have your IGN and Server?" This lets you link their IGN to their Discord account.
- Check the Discord account. See how long ago it was made and how long it has been in the Complex Discord, if at all. An older account that has been in the Discord for a while is safer.
- Be clear about what you want and ask for uncropped screenshot proof that they own everything they offer. Check the screenshots match the deal, then verify everything in game too.
- Screenshot as you go. Take uncropped screenshots of the Discord conversation while it happens, so deleted or edited messages can't hide anything, and of the Pokemon and items exchanged.
Gem and gift card deals
Gems are our premium currency. You can use them in game and on the Donor Store, where 1 Gem equals $1. You can trade Gems with other players through SafeTrade.- For a deal that involves a Store Gift Card, have the other player convert the Gift Card into in-game Gems first. Then the Gems move through SafeTrade with the rest of the deal.
- After the trade, keep the Gems in your /bal and use them in game, or turn them back into a store Gift Card with /gemstogc.
⚠️ Watch out: Real life deals may ONLY involve Complex Store Gift Cards or in-game currency. Any other gift cards, real money or similar items count as an Illegal IRL Deal and can get you permanently banned.
What to do if you get scammed
- Gather all your evidence of what happened.
- Make a Ticket in the #help-and-support channel on our Discord (/discord).
- In your ticket, include your IGN, your server, the other player's IGN (and their Discord ID if the deal happened on Discord), a description of the deal and all your evidence.

How do you trade in Cobblemon?
On Complex Cobblemon and Complex Pixelmon, type /safetrade followed by the player's name (or /trade), or Shift + Right-Click the player. Both of you put your side of the deal in the menu, so nobody can run off with your items.
How do I avoid getting scammed in Cobblemon?
Confirm the deal in chat, check the player's playtime with /playtime check and their balance with /bal other, take uncropped screenshots, and only trade through /safetrade.
Can I send gems with /pay?
No. /pay only sends coins. Trade Gems through /safetrade instead.
Is trading for real money allowed?
Only Complex Store Gift Cards and in-game currency are allowed. Any other gift cards or real money count as an Illegal IRL Deal and can get you permanently banned.
Why can't I trade a Pokemon I just got?
