Pixelmon Breeding Guide
How the Day Care, eggs, IVs and breeding lives work on Complex Pixelmon

Short answer: Pixelmon breeding on Complex Pixelmon (pixel.mc-complex.com) happens in the Day Care. Place a Day Care block and right-click it (or type /daycare with Elite rank or higher), add two Pokemon from the same egg group, and confirm. Each IV on the egg rolls between the two parents' values, a held power item locks one stat for 7,500 Coins, and every Pokemon has 5 breeding lives. Walk with the egg in your party to hatch it, and check progress with /eggsteps.
⚡ Quick facts
Server IP: pixel.mc-complex.com (Java 1.21.1)
Where to breed: a Day Care block, or /daycare (Elite rank and up)
Day Care block: 100,000 Coins at /warp grassmart
Breeding lives: 5 per Pokemon
IV items: power items, 7,500 Coins per item per egg
Destiny Knot: disabled
Breeding tax: none

How Pixelmon breeding works on Complex

  1. Get a Day Care block. Buy one for 100,000 Coins at /warp grassmart or in /shop under the Machine Shop. All 16 colors work the same.
  2. Open it. Place the block and right-click it. With Elite rank or higher, /daycare opens it from anywhere.
  3. Add two Pokemon. They need a shared egg group and opposite genders, or one of them can be a Ditto. /pwiki shows any Pokemon's egg groups.
  4. Confirm. A Breeding Confirmation menu shows both parents, their breeding lives, a predicted egg and the cost. Pick a gender here if you want one.
  5. Wait, then claim the egg. When the timer ends, collect the egg from the Day Care.
  6. Hatch it. Walk with the egg in your party until it hatches.
No item requests: the Pixelmon Day Care normally asks for items before it breeds. On Complex those requests are skipped, so breeding starts as soon as you confirm.
Day Care boxes: you can breed in 10 boxes at once, and ranks add more. See Pixelmon Ranks.
Tip: Shift-click Confirm to jump straight back into the Day Care and set up the next pair.

How IVs, natures and abilities pass down

IVs: on Complex, each of the egg's six IVs rolls a random value between the two parents' IVs for that stat. Breed two strong parents and the egg can't fall below the weaker one in any stat.
ExampleHP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe
Parent 131 / 20 / 31 / 31 / 0 / 31
Parent 231 / 31 / 31 / 0 / 31 / 31
Possible egg31 / 20-31 / 31 / 0-31 / 0-31 / 31
Power items: a parent holding a power item passes its exact IV for that stat, with no roll. Give each parent a different power item to lock two stats. You pay 7,500 Coins per power item when you confirm.
Natures: give a parent an Everstone to pass down its nature. This follows Pixelmon's normal Everstone rule.
Hidden Abilities: in a pair without a Ditto, a female parent with its Hidden Ability always passes it down. A male parent with its Hidden Ability passes it 60% of the time.
Gender: the egg's gender is random for free, or you can pick Female for 1,500 Coins or Male for 3,000 Coins in the confirm menu. You only see genders the baby can naturally have.

Breeding lives

Every Pokemon on Complex Pixelmon has breeding lives. The confirm menu shows each parent's lives.
  • A Pokemon starts with 5 breeding lives.
  • Each time you collect an egg, both parents lose 1 life.
  • The egg starts with the lower of its parents' lives after that breed. Two fresh parents give an egg with 4 lives.
  • A Pokemon with 0 lives can breed one last time. After that it is permanently unbreedable.
  • An egg bred from a 0-life parent is untradeable and has 0 lives itself.

Breeding time and hatching eggs

Breeding time: Complex uses Pixelmon's standard Day Care timer. A box takes 90 minutes when both parents share the same main type, and 3 hours when their main types differ. Hourglasses and the Oval Charm make it faster, and Omega rank can finish a box instantly with /pokebreed <box> once every 10 minutes.
Hatching: eggs hatch as you walk with them in your party. Each egg cycle is 255 steps, and different species need a different number of cycles. Type /eggsteps <slot> to see how many steps are left.
Check before you hatch: /ivs works on eggs, so you can check an egg's IVs right away.
Hatch instantly: Legend rank and up can use /hatch <slot> to hatch one egg every 10 minutes.

Breeding commands

CommandWhat it doesWho can use it
/daycareOpens your Day Care from anywhereElite and up
/eggsteps <slot>Shows steps left on an eggEveryone
/ivs <slot>Shows IVs, including an egg'sEveryone

About /neuter: it asks you to confirm, then marks the Pokemon as unable to breed. You can't undo it, so only use it on Pokemon you never want bred.

Breeding rules on Complex

  • No Ditto with Ditto: two Ditto can't breed together.
  • No breeding tax: you only pay for the extras you choose: power items, gender and hourglasses.
  • Untradeable eggs: eggs bred from a parent with 0 lives can't be traded or sold.
  • Trade cooldown: a Pokemon you get from /pgift, the GTS or a trade machine can't be traded again for 12 hours.
  • Legendaries: legendary Pokemon are in the Undiscovered egg group and can't breed, which is Pixelmon's standard rule.

Pixelmon Breeding FAQ

How does breeding work in Pixelmon?

Put two Pokemon from the same egg group, of opposite genders or with a Ditto, into a Day Care and confirm. When the timer ends, collect the egg and walk with it in your party until it hatches.

Where do I get a Day Care in Pixelmon?

On Complex Pixelmon, buy a Day Care block for 100,000 Coins at /warp grassmart or in /shop under the Machine Shop. Elite rank and higher can open the Day Care anywhere with /daycare.

How do I breed perfect IVs in Pixelmon?

On Complex, every egg IV rolls between its parents' values, so start with high IV parents. Give each parent a different power item to lock those stats exactly, for 7,500 Coins per item. The Destiny Knot is disabled.

What items do you need for Pokemon breeding?

You need a Day Care block. Power items pass exact IVs, an Everstone passes the nature, and Silver or Gold Hourglasses speed up the timer. Power items and the Everstone are in the EV/Breeding Shop at /warp psychicmart, and Day Care blocks are at /warp grassmart.

How long does Pixelmon breeding take?

90 minutes when both parents share a main type, or 3 hours when they don't. The Oval Charm halves it, and hourglasses or /pokebreed (Omega) finish it sooner.

How many times can a Pokemon breed?

Each Pokemon has 5 breeding lives and loses 1 every time it breeds. At 0 lives it can breed once more, but that egg is untradeable and the parent becomes permanently unbreedable.

Can you breed on Complex Cobblemon?

No. Breeding is only on Complex Pixelmon. On Complex Cobblemon you can improve IVs and EVs with the PokeBuilder (/pb) instead.
