Complex Gaming Proximity Voice Chat Guide (Java Edition)

Short answer: Yes, Complex Gaming (hub.mc-complex.com) has proximity voice chat for Java Edition players who install the Simple Voice Chat mod. Players within 48 blocks of you can hear you, or within 24 blocks when you use the whisper key, and voice chat groups are turned off, so all voice chat is proximity based. Voice chat is recorded and monitored for moderation and safety, and you must accept a consent prompt before you can talk. Bedrock players can't use voice chat.

Voice chat recording and rules​

Voice chat is moderated, so follow all of the Complex Vanilla Rules while you talk. If you have any problems installing the mods, contact staff on our Discord.
Important note: Use Push-To-Talk for best results, because excessive voice activation can be disrupted.

How voice chat works on Complex​

• Range: players within 48 blocks of you can hear you.
• Whisper: use the whisper key to talk to players within 24 blocks.
• Groups: voice chat groups are turned off, so all voice chat is proximity based.
• Java only: Bedrock players can't use voice chat.
• Consent: the first time you talk, you must accept a consent prompt. You can't use voice chat without accepting it.
• Muted players: players who are muted can't use voice chat, and players you /ignore are muted for you.

The /voice menu lets you:

• Turn Hear Voice Chat on or off. Turning it off also stops you from talking, so turn it back on before you speak.
• Turn the push-to-talk chime sounds on or off.
• Revoke your voice chat consent, or view the consent form again.

Complex Gaming supports Java 1.8 through the latest release, and the latest is recommended. For these mods, pick the newest Minecraft version that all of them support. If you also want Sound Physics Remastered, use version 1.21.10.

Option 1: Modrinth App (recommended)​

If you already have the Modrinth App installed, skip to Step 2.

1. Download Modrinth from https://modrinth.com/app. More Download Options has the Mac and Linux versions.
2. Open the Modrinth App and sign in.
3. Go to Discover Content (1), then click Mods (2).

4. Type Simple Voice Chat in the search bar.

5. Click Simple Voice Chat and go to Versions (1). Select Game versions (2) and install the game version you want. If you also want Sound Physics Remastered, you must use version 1.21.10.

6. Name your instance and click Create instance. You are taken to the instance page. Click Play and join Complex with the mod. To add the optional mod, go back to Step 4, search for it, click Add to instance and choose the instance you installed Simple Voice Chat to.

Option 2: CurseForge App​

If you already have the CurseForge App installed, skip to Step 2.

1. Download CurseForge from https://www.curseforge.com/download/app.
2. Open CurseForge, select Minecraft (1), then type Simple Voice Chat in the search bar (2).

3. Click Install, choose Create a new profile and name the profile anything you like.

4. Click Play and log in if you aren't already.

Note: To add the optional mod, repeat Step 2 but search for Sound Physics Remastered. When you install it, pick Select a profile and choose the profile you made.
